Seventeen Seventy seems an unusual name for a town Doris. Where is that? Also I have a rough idea where Bundaberg is too but it doesn't show in Concise World Atlas. Strange... - Dave
ReplyDeleteHi Dave, yes, the name comes from the year Capt Cook landed at the spot where the town is established. It's just below Gladstone in Queensland. It is purported to be the first landing that Capt Cook made in Queensland. I believe it's the year that Cook was charting the east coast of Australia. I think he would have found the spot very appealing, as we are.

ReplyDeleteThanks Helen. We are now taking some time out of time on the road. It's been quite difficult keeping up with the blog. Internet connection can be quite unreliable and frustrating at times. I must apologise for not keeping up to date with everyone else's challenge!
